WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THERAPY

Starting therapy

Starting therapy can feel uncertain.

You might wonder:

  • What should I say?

  • What will happen in the session?

  • Will this actually help me?

You don’t need to have clear answers before coming. It is enough to feel that something is not quite right or that you would like things to be different.

How sessions look

A session is a conversation, but not an ordinary one.

We move at your pace and focus on what feels important in the moment. This can be something that happened, something you are struggling with, or simply how you feel as you sit there.

In Gestalt therapy, we pay attention not only to what you say, but also to how you experience it:

  • your emotions

  • your thoughts

  • your body

  • your reactions in the moment

Sometimes we explore a situation from your life.
Sometimes we stay with a feeling.
Sometimes we notice what is happening between us as we talk.

You don’t have to prepare

You don’t need to prepare for therapy.

You can come with:

  • a specific problem

  • a difficult emotion

  • or just a sense that something feels off

That is enough to begin.

The process

Therapy is not about quick solutions.

Over time, you may begin to:

  • notice your patterns more clearly

  • understand your reactions

  • feel more connected to yourself

  • respond differently in situations that used to feel automatic

Change does not happen by force, but through awareness.

The pace of the work

We go step by step.

Sometimes the work feels clear and relieving. Sometimes it may feel uncomfortable or slow. Both are part of the process.

You are not expected to “perform” or “do therapy right”. You are invited to be present as you are.

In the end

Therapy is a space where you can pause.

A space to become more aware of yourself, and from that awareness, begin to make different choices.
