Welcome to Gestalt Lab Psychotherapy.
These Terms & Conditions provide clear and detailed information about scheduling, cancellations, payments, confidentiality, and technical requirements. Their purpose is to create a stable, safe, and professional therapeutic framework for both client and therapist.

  1. Cancellations (24 hours in advance)

Appointments may be cancelled at least 24 hours before the scheduled time at no charge.
Cancellations must be submitted by email to be considered valid.

Late cancellations and no-shows

Cancellations made within 24 hours are fully charged.

No-shows are fully charged.

Exception: official travel ban due to weather conditions

If Icelandic authorities issue an official travel ban (red alert / travel ban), the session may be:

  • held online, or

  • cancelled without charge.

If the session is held online

Online sessions conducted in such circumstances are charged according to the regular fee schedule.

2. Lateness

If the client is late

  • The session ends at the original scheduled time.

  • The session is charged in full regardless of the length of the delay.

If the therapist is late

  • If the therapist is 10 minutes late or more, the session will not be charged.

  • The session will still end at the originally scheduled time.

3. Online sessions and technical issues

Online sessions are conducted via:

This is a secure telehealth platform used internationally by mental health professionals.

Technical interruptions on the therapist’s side

If a technical interruption on the therapist’s side lasts 10 minutes or more, the session will not be charged.

Technical interruptions on the client’s side

If the interruption is on the client’s side, the session is charged in accordance with policy, unless the issue is clearly due to broad infrastructure failure (e.g., area-wide power outage).

4. Payment

  • Payment is made after each session.

  • A new appointment cannot be booked until the previous session has been paid for.

This policy ensures continuity and professionalism in the therapeutic process.

5. Confidentiality

All information shared in therapy is confidential, except in legally mandated situations, including:

  • serious risk of harm to self or others

  • suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable person

  • official court order

  • medical emergency

  • professional supervision without revealing client identity

Recording sessions is not permitted without written consent from both parties.

6. Health information

Please inform the therapist about any relevant medical conditions, medications, or changes in health that may affect the therapeutic process or safety.

7. Documentation and data protection

Documentation is maintained in accordance with Icelandic laws governing psychological practice and data protection.

Clients have the right to:

  • an explanation of how their data is stored and processed

In the event of therapist incapacity, termination of practice, or death, documentation will be securely transferred to another qualified professional or archived in accordance with the law.

8. Informed consent

By booking an appointment, the client confirms that they:

  • have read and understand these Terms & Conditions

  • accept responsibility for attendance, payments, and cancellations

  • understand the policies regarding lateness and online sessions

  • provide accurate information to the best of their knowledge
